The Seven Days of My Creation: Tales of Magic and Gender. there is another side to Janine Roberts, the person who put this website together. She is not just an investigative journalist who has taken on the diamond world, been smuggled into major diamond mines, addressed US Congressional Hearings - and exposed major medical fraud. In her youth she had an extremely different and difficult life. She worked in a Religious Order as a Catholic priest - then gender-transitioned in the 1970s when it was found she was born between the genders. As a woman she has never since lost her dedication to social justice, nor her mysticism. Some 33 years ago she changed her gender role while working in the Outback with Aborigines, thereby also taking on an old shamanic path. This book uses the story of her journey as a metaphor for our own world's journey to rediscover its female side. She weaves into her story deep research into the history of gender and religion, gnosticism and shamenism, magic and authority - covering the clashes between gnostic and catholic traditions in early Christiantiy, the evolution of the New Testament, the missing Gnostic gospels, the persecution of the Cathars and of women damned as Witches. It is the story of a decade long investigation that took the author to five continents - and from the arctic to the deserts. Every chapter weaves a powerful story about another aspect of diamonds.
The Seven Days of My Creation: tales of magic, sex and gender. The author, an international investigative journalist, tells for the first time how her life was affected by her being born hermaphrodite. She deals intimately, humorously and at depth with male and female sexuality and identity - drawing on her personal experience, as well as much research. The Sun newspaper tried to expose her on its page 3, and to demolish her reputation at the BBC. She was nearly killed by an assault - carried out by thugs who were seemingly motivated by being told she was 'not a woman'. None of this stopped her investigations of governments and corporations. (But the author thinks writing this book the scariest thing she has ever done!)
